The Belleville Bulls got excellent goaltending from Alex Lucas but dropped a 2-1 decision to the Uxbridge Stars in Game Two of the OMHA semi-finals.
Dylan Bailey potted the only Belleville goal from Aden Deryaw-Walsh and Nate Burelle in the loss.
Game Three goes Monday at 6:15 in Belleville.
The Belleville Mix 97/Studio DK Hair Design and Day Spa Novice A Jr. Bulls once again got great goaltending from Dixon Grimes, downing the Uxbridge Stars 4-1 in game one of the OMHA semi-final playoffs.
Lucas Culhane scored twice in the win while Tanner Jones and Tom Simpson added single markers. Mikey Verbeek picked up the only assist for the Bulls.
Game Two goes Sunday in Uxbridge while Game Three is back in Belleville at 6:15 at the Yardmen Arena.
The Belleville Mix 97/Studio DK Hair Design and Day Spa Novice A Jr. Bulls once again got shutout goaltending from the dynamic duo of Alex Lucas and Dixon Grimes, downing the Ajax Knights 4-0 in game two of the opening round of Lakeshore A playoff action.
Aden Deryaw-Walsh, Trot Davis, James Richards and Maguire Shortt, with his best Bobby Orr impersonation, scored for the Bulls. Assists went to Nathaniel Burelle, Dylan Bailey, Lucas Culhane and Daniel Michaud.
The Bulls now have 2 wins in the 3 team opening round series and look to complete the sweep of Ajax and Cobourg next weekend.
The Belleville Mix 97/Studio DK Hair Design and Day Spa Novice A Jr. Bulls scored 4 unanswered goals in the third period to down the Cobourg Cougars 7-2 in the opener of the quarterfinal round robin Lakeshore League playoffs.
Lucas Culhane potted the hat trick in the win to give him 51 goals on the season. Nate Burelle (2), Tanner Jones and Kait McNair, with a great end-to-end rush, added the other goals while assists went to Daniel Michaud (2), McNair and Maguire Shortt.
Alex Lucas and Dixon Grimes shared the win between the pipes for the Bulls.
Despite missing four regulars from the line-up, the Belleville Mix 97/Studio DK Hair Design and Day Spa Novice A Jr. Bulls displayed outstanding team play in a 3-0 win over Port Perry to finish up the regular season.
Scoring for the Jr. Bulls were Nate Burrelle , with his 33rd and 34th of the season, and Dylan Bailey, with his 14th of the year.
Called up from the Tyke Major Jr. Bulls, Nate Woods did his best Wayne Gretzky impression, picking up two assists while Lucas Culhane, Tom Simpson and Trot Davis added single helpers.
Dixon "Agent Zero” Grimes and Alex "Dr. Shutout” Lucas shared the shutout for the Bulls. The win gives the tandem a combined 9 shutouts in 27 regular season games while holding the opposition to only 30 goals against in those games.
With the win, the Bulls finish the regular season with an impressive record of 22 – 5. They finish in second place behind arch-rival Quinte West Hawks.

Scoring for the Jr. Bulls were Tanner Jones (2), Nate "Top Shelf” Burrelle, Lucas Culhane, Daniel Michaud and Michael Verbeek.
Assists went to Maguire Shortt and Michaud with two apiece, while Culhane, Verbeek, Finn Addy, Trot Davis, James Richards and Tom Simpson added single helpers.
Dixon "Agent Zero” Grimes and Alex "Dr. Shutout” Lucas shared the shutout for the Bulls.
